I like your idea. I’ve even blogged about it on myspace.
You should check out http://www.culinaryspecialists.com, they might be able to help you out with ideas for some meals.

  2. Stephanie says:

More Bosnian in Queens: Cevabdzinica Sarajevo (Astoria), Bosna Express (Ridgewood–you can get “Bosnian hamburgers” there), Pasha (Astoria–run by the same people as Bosna Express).

  3. Mike says:

Bolivian: Go to Mi Bolivia, a.k.a. International Restaurant, in Sunnyside. I didn’t think the food was especially good, with the exception of the salteñas, which are astoundingly delicious. They’re like empanadas, only good.

  4. confinednomad says:

Funny you should mention that – we just went to Mi Bolivia/International Restaurant this past weekend! And I completely agree with your assessment: the salteñas are fantastic, the rest just ok. Our review will be posted soon.

  5. Giacomo says:

I know finding Italian food will not be a problem or adventurous. But since you wanted “authentic”. I would advise also trying traditional Sicilian food as well. (different from Italian food)
    Two places I can recommend:

    Joe’s of Avenue U 287 Avenue U, Brooklyn, NY 11223 (718) 449-9285
(more of a neighborhood local place)

    Ferdinando’s Focacceria 151 Union Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231 (718) 855-1545
    (Old, but becoming trendy)

PS please continue your journey till the end, it’s a great idea!

Morocco: La Maison Du Couscous, located in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

I’ve only had the most pleasant of times there, and the cuisine is brilliant. a long ways to go until M, keep up the awesome job guys!

  7. Cori says:

It’s very early, but instantly though of you guys when I saw this on nytimes.com in their 1 in 8 million series: a woman who cooks Liberian food in her home:

    http://nytimes.com/packages/html/nyregion/1-in-8-million/index.html?hp&hp#

In case you can’t find a restaurant when you get to the L’s…

  8. NY Canuck says:

Well, “Canadian” cuisine basically involves pouring maple syrup on everything, or eating anything while watching hockey. That said, there are some regional cuisines, including “poutine”, done best in Quebec. And you’re in luck – this opportunity for a heart attack is now available in NY in the lower east side. See http://www.tpoutine.com. Bon appetit!
